Mato Grosso stepfather arrested in Sergipe for raping stepdaughter
A 40-year-old man was arrested in Sergipe following a joint intelligence operation between the Civil and Military Police of Mato Grosso and Sergipe. He is accused of raping and impregnating his 13-year-old stepdaughter in the municipality of Ponte Branca, Mato Grosso.
The investigation began in June after the victim's mother noticed physical changes in the teenager during a trip to Mineiros, Goiás. Medical examinations in Ponte Branca confirmed the girl was in an advanced stage of pregnancy. While the victim was initially unable to identify the perpetrator, subsequent investigations by the Alto Araguaia Police Station pointed to the stepfather as the sole suspect.
Authorities noted that the suspect attempted to flee the region by selling his home and vehicle. After fleeing Mato Grosso, he was tracked to Sergipe, where he was taken into custody. The arrest was executed following a preventive detention order issued by the First Criminal and Civil Court of Alto Araguaia.
