Mato Grosso to manage R$1.5 billion housing loan for 60,000 homes

The state of Mato Grosso is set to receive a R$1.5 billion loan from Caixa Econômica Federal to fund the construction of 60,000 low‑income homes under the SER Família Habitação program. The loan, approved by the state legislature, will be overseen by the incoming governor, with the current administration emphasizing the project's urgency for the local population. Legislative leaders highlighted that the financing, intended to replace lost revenue from the State Transport and Housing Fund, will be repaid over ten years and is viewed as essential for addressing Mato Grosso's severe housing shortage.

State Assembly president Max Russi stressed that the executive branch will retain autonomy over the loan’s allocation and management, asserting that the next government must plan and monitor its use.
