Mato Grosso judiciary holds weekend plantão, launches historic museum, hosts Ives Gandra interview

The Tribunal de Justiça do Mato Grosso announced that it will operate a judicial plantão on the weekend of 11‑12 July. The plantão will receive urgent civil actions, security mandates, habeas corpus and other time‑critical matters, with filings to be made through the electronic system and a dedicated phone line for public‑health emergencies.

In parallel, the court unveiled the Espaço Memória do Poder Judiciário, a museum commemorating 150 years of the state’s judiciary. The exhibit displays over 200 historic items—including an 1886 habeas corpus, replica jury furniture, early legal codes and portraits—while offering educational programs for schools and universities.

The court also aired a program of the Magistratura e Sociedade series, featuring jurist Ives Gandra da Silva Martins. Gandra discussed the historical formation of Brazil’s judiciary, emphasizing the legacy of Portuguese centralization and the influence of the American model on Brazil’s Supreme Court.
