Matosinhos to host inaugural Troféu Portugal 2026 culinary competition
The inaugural Troféu Portugal 2026 culinary competition will take place in Matosinhos from October 3 to 5. Held at Jardim Senhor do Padrão as part of the Out Of The Blue event, the competition aims to highlight the Atlantic connection and the region's fishing and canning traditions.
Eight chefs representing various Portuguese regions—including Porto, Lisbon, the North, Center, Alentejo, Algarve, Madeira, and the Azores—will compete in a league format. Participants must use fish as the primary ingredient, showcasing technical skill and regional identity. The top two scorers will advance to the final on October 5.
A jury led by Louis Anjos will evaluate contestants based on presentation, flavor, aroma, texture, and economic value. The winner of the competition will receive a prize of 3,500 euros.
