MATRADE eTRADE 2.0 generates RM438.7 million in export sales
The eTRADE 2.0 program, an initiative by the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE), has generated RM438.7 million in actual export sales and successfully penetrated 163 international markets. An impact study conducted by UKM Pakarunding Sdn. Bhd. revealed that the program benefited over 2,000 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through grants, training, technical guidance, and capacity building.
According to MATRADE CEO Datuk Abu Bakar Yusof, the program has helped MSMEs overcome traditional international trade challenges by utilizing cross-border e-commerce. The initiative enabled companies to enter less explored markets such as Réunion Island, Kiribati, and Nauru, while approximately 30 percent of incentive recipients strengthened their presence within the ASEAN region.
High-demand products identified include ready-to-eat foods, beverages, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, household goods, and plastic products. Following these results, MATRADE plans to continue its efforts through eBizLink 2.0 to expand market access and further develop the digital trade ecosystem.
