Matrix 5 potentially slated for 2029 release

A potential release window for the fifth Matrix film has emerged, with reports suggesting a possible 2029 debut. This information stems from a Deadline survey regarding projects in development following the merger of Warner Bros. and Paramount into Skydance, a company led by David Ellison.

While 2029 is not an officially confirmed release date, the project remains active. Drew Goddard, known for his work on 'The Martian', is set to serve as both director and screenwriter. This marks the first installment in the franchise that will not be directed by the Wachowski sisters, though Lana Wachowski is credited as an executive producer.

The plot remains confidential, and there has been no official confirmation regarding the return of Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss in their roles as Neo and Trinity.
