Matrouh Governor announces winter preparedness measures
The Governor of Matrouh, Mohamed Salma Al-Zamloot, has announced a comprehensive series of measures to prepare the governorate for the winter season, focusing on infrastructure, education, and health.
To mitigate flood risks, the governorate is implementing an urgent plan to manage rainwater and flash floods. This includes deploying water suction vehicles and pumps to high-risk areas, improving drainage systems, and coordinating with water and sanitation companies to act proactively before weather instability occurs. The plan also aims to utilize collected rainwater alongside long-term water management projects.
In the education sector, authorities are working to address teacher shortages and will assess the literacy and numeracy skills of primary and preparatory students by the end of October to implement remedial programs. Additional initiatives include providing free school uniforms in specific regions, studying meal programs in coordination with the Food Bank, and launching a school afforestation initiative using olive and palm trees.
Regarding public health, Matrouh is preparing for a major medical convoy from the Ministry of Health and Higher Education in late October. This mission aims to provide specialized services to citizens in remote villages and rural areas.
