Matsudo, Japan Welcomes New Tempura Restaurant as Tokyo Katsudon Spot Relocates
A new Tempura Teishoku Makino restaurant opened in Matsudo, Chiba, on July 31, 2026. Located near the TSUTAYA Matsudo Rokujitsu store, the eatery features a 72‑seat layout and serves tempura that is fried to order, with free rice refills and a selection of side dishes such as yuzu radish and salted squid. This marks the chain’s 18th outlet and its first return to Chiba in four years.
Meanwhile, the Tokyo restaurant Kanosu‑an, known for popularising Japan’s first sauce‑katsudon, moved from its original Waseda location to a new venue in Nihonbashi. The establishment continues to serve its signature Wasekatsu sauce‑katsudon, a dish that traces its origins to the Waseda area and has become a local favourite.
