Wajima City hosts second ‘Fukkatsu no Hajimari’ market for reconstruction

The second ‘Fukkatsu no Hajimari’ (Beginning of Revival) market is being held on October 25, 2026, in the Honmachi shopping district of Wajima City, Ishikawa Prefecture. The event serves as a social experiment to foster community interaction and commerce as the city prepares for the opening of a new commercial facility featuring 14 stores in early 2027.

The market features 35 vendors, including those from the local morning market, and eight food trucks. Notably, ‘Takano Pastry Shop’ will participate in its first sales within Wajima since the earthquake. The event also includes various stage performances, such as music from the Wajima Wind Orchestra and traditional dances.

Organized by UR Linkage on behalf of the Wajima Honmachi Shopping District Promotion Association, the market aims to gather data on visitor movement and needs to inform future revitalization strategies and sustainable regional development.
