Matsumoto City to host immersive agricultural experience tours

The Matsumoto Agricultural Future Project is launching a series of “Adult Agricultural Experience” tours in the Imai district of Matsumoto City, Nagano Prefecture. Scheduled for September and October 2026, the program aims to provide a realistic look at modern farming for those considering relocation or career changes into agriculture.

Participants will engage in hands-on tasks including harvesting, sorting, and shipping grapes in September and apples in October. The tours also feature demonstrations of advanced agricultural technology, such as auto-tracking robots.

Beyond physical labor, the program includes tastings of rare fruit varieties and a lunch session where participants can speak candidly with local farmers about the realities of the profession, including the challenges, joys, and specific income levels associated with farming.
