Matsumoto to host pottery festival and architectural arts festival

Matsumoto is set to host two major cultural events. The inaugural ‘Matsumoto Pottery Festival’ will take place on October 17 at the Shinmei Media Garden. This craft fair will feature 25 artists from various regions, including Nagano, Ibaraki, Tochigi, Shiga, Aichi, and Gifu. Organized by Takeshi Amami of Amami Shoten, the event aims to foster communication between creators, users, and gallery owners, serving as a precursor to future regular installments.

Additionally, the ‘Matsumoto Architectural Arts Festival 2026 ADVANCE’ will be held from November 3 to December 13, 2026. The second phase of the festival will feature 19 exhibitions across 19 venues in three areas: the Castle Town, Asama Onsen, and the West (Historical Village). The event includes works by 18 domestic and international artists, such as teamLab, Lee Ufan, and Julian Opie, utilizing historic buildings and local streets as exhibition spaces.
