Matsuyama City unveils plans for new JR Matsuyama Station transport hub
Matsuyama City has presented a preliminary plan for a new integrated public transportation terminal, referred to as a ‘Busta’, at the east exit of JR Matsuyama Station. The plan, discussed during the 7th Matsuyama Station Transportation Hub Function Enhancement Committee, outlines a facility designed to accommodate intercity express buses, local buses, limousine buses, and taxis.
The proposed terminal includes 11 bus berths and 13 taxi spaces. To promote local vitality, the city aims to develop commercial and dining facilities, hotels, and parking on the second floor and above. The project is targeting a service commencement date in fiscal year 2033. Matsuyama City is coordinating with private sector partners, including Mitsui Fudosan, JR Shikoku, and the Imabari Towel specialty retailer Iori, to ensure the terminal integrates effectively with surrounding commercial developments.
