Matt Beaty announces retirement from professional baseball

Matt Beaty, a former Los Angeles Dodgers World Series champion, has announced his retirement from professional baseball at age 33. The announcement was made via Instagram, where Beaty stated he is entering the next chapter of his life.

Beaty, originally drafted by the Dodgers in the 12th round of the 2015 MLB Draft out of Belmont University, was known as a versatile utility player and a valuable left-handed pinch-hitter. His most notable season came in 2019, highlighted by a walk-off home run against the Colorado Rockies. He was also part of the 2020 Dodgers team that won the World Series.

Following his time in Los Angeles, Beaty was traded to the San Diego Padres in 2022 and later played for the Kansas City Royals in 2023. His last professional appearance occurred in September 2024 with an Arizona Diamondbacks Double-A affiliate.
