Matt Campbell implements new discipline and tactics at Penn State

Penn State head coach Matt Campbell is implementing a new culture of discipline and competition to elevate the football program. Following a period of inconsistent performance against top-tier opponents, Campbell has introduced a system of internal competition and accountability. This includes a points-based system where players earn or lose standing based on performance, punctuality, and community service.

To enforce these standards, the program utilizes various consequences for weekly losers, such as cleaning training rooms or carrying water crates. Campbell is also focusing on maximizing individual player talents, specifically highlighting the transition of Caleb Bacon. Previously a linebacker at Iowa State, Bacon is being utilized as an edge rusher at Penn State to leverage his high pressure rate and versatility.

Beyond on-field tactics, the program is emphasizing character development, including renewed participation in community events like the Pennsylvania Special Olympics.
