Matt Chapman to undergo season-ending surgery

San Francisco Giants third baseman Matt Chapman will undergo season-ending surgery on Tuesday to address a core muscle injury. The 33-year-old infielder, who has a contract running through 2030, traveled to Philadelphia to be evaluated by specialist Dr. William C. Meyers. The injury, described as an abdominal strain and hernia, has kept Chapman off the field since June 30.

In addition to Chapman's injury, the Giants are monitoring catcher Daniel Susac. Susac suffered a fractured left patella after being hit by a ball during a game against Detroit. Manager Tony Vitello described the incident as a ‘freak injury’ and noted that the team is currently assessing the recovery timeline for the 25-year-old.
