Matt Damon loses weight for Christopher Nolan’s Odysseus role

Actor Matt Damon revealed an intensive six‑month preparation for playing Odysseus in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film. He cut his weight to about 75 kg, adopted a gluten‑free diet, and gave up beer, describing the regimen as comparable to that of professional athletes.

Nolan wanted Damon “lean and strong, like a veteran of the Trojan War.” The film opened on 17 July, earning roughly $264 million in its first weekend, the biggest opening of Nolan’s career.
