Matt Damon credits love, respect and trust for his 20‑year marriage
Matt Damon explained that the durability of his marriage to Argentine producer Luciana Barroso rests on “a lot of love, respect and trust” and a “very sturdy foundation.” The couple met in 2003, married in 2005 and have four daughters – Isabella, Gia, Stella and step‑daughter Alexia – whom Damon adopted. Barroso is also a partner at Artists Equity, the production company Damon co‑founded with Ben Affleck, and she regularly reviews his scripts and films. While promoting Christopher Nolan’s The Odyssey, Damon noted that the couple’s partnership extends from family life to joint film projects such as The Instigators and The Rip. During the 2026 World Cup, the pair attended the final to support Argentina, reflecting the wife’s passion for the national team. Damon said the shared rule of a nightly family dinner has helped keep their relationship strong.
The interview highlighted how personal values and collaborative work have shaped Damon’s two‑decade‑long partnership, which he described as “the greatest thing in my life.”
