Matt Damon reveals stunt double Devyn Dalton performed giant battle scenes in Nolan's 'The Odyssey

Actor Matt Damon, who portrays Odysseus in Christopher Nolan’s film The Odyssey, disclosed that a 1.35‑metre‑tall Canadian stuntwoman, Devyn Dalton, stood in for him in several shots featuring the giant Laestrygonians. The production used forced‑perspective techniques, employing very tall performers as the giants and shorter stunt performers for Odysseus’s crew, while Dalton’s small stature allowed the giants to appear towering over Damon on screen. Damon praised Dalton’s “beautiful arms” and confirmed that the visible body in those battle sequences belongs to her, not to him. Dalton later shared behind‑the‑scenes footage on Instagram and noted that the role marked her first major Hollywood double for a star of Damon’s stature. The film’s crew combined extensive physical training for Damon with precise camera work to achieve the size contrast without relying solely on digital effects.
