Matt Gaetz accused of sex trafficking in federal lawsuit

Two women have filed a federal civil lawsuit in Orlando, Florida, accusing former U.S. Representative Matt Gaetz of sex trafficking. The lawsuit alleges that between 2017 and 2019, Gaetz, along with Joel Greenberg and Christopher Dorworth, participated in a scheme to recruit and sexually exploit young women.

The plaintiffs claim the defendants provided drugs to facilitate sexual encounters and paid for travel, lodging, and other expenses to move women across state lines. The lawsuit names Greenberg, a former Seminole County tax official currently serving a prison sentence, and Dorworth, a former Florida state representative, as defendants, alongside businesses linked to Greenberg.

Matt Gaetz has denied the allegations, stating that “much of the conduct alleged against me is false.” He argued that the claims rely heavily on a previous Congressional Committee report that did not allow him to confront his accusers, expressing interest in taking the plaintiffs' depositions to address the matter.
