Matt Hardy Says He’d Have Won TNA Title in 2005 and Emphasizes Mentoring New Wrestlers

Matt Hardy told the podcast The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy that, had he joined TNA in 2005, he believes he would have become world champion. He recalled discussions with Jeff Jarrett about creative options, a pending TV deal, and the lure of greater exposure, but ultimately chose WWE for its stable TV platform and higher pay. In a separate interview, Hardy said his current priority in TNA is to nurture the promotion’s next generation of talent. He explained that his rivalry with The Righteous is intended to elevate that team, and that he and his brother Jeff are open to singles matches, such as a potential Jeff‑Hardy versus Nic Nemeth bout. Hardy stressed that the Hardys aim to “give back” while remaining relevant, hoping to help younger wrestlers become stars and eventually tag‑team champions.
