Matt Kalil lawsuit against ex-wife Haley Kalil dismissed
A federal judge has dismissed an invasion of privacy lawsuit filed by former NFL offensive lineman Matt Kalil against his ex-wife, influencer Haley Kalil.
U.S. District Judge Patrick Schiltz ruled that the comments made by Haley Kalil during a Twitch livestream—which included descriptions of their sexual life and anatomical incompatibility—were protected speech. The court determined that because she was discussing her own marriage and divorce, the remarks were matters of legitimate public concern and constituted speech about herself rather than false factual claims intended to damage Kalil's reputation.
Matt Kalil, who sought at least $75,000 in damages, argued that the comments harmed his efforts to maintain privacy following his football career. His attorney, Ryan Saba, stated that Kalil intends to appeal the decision.
