Matt McQuillan, former PGA Tour professional, dies at 45
Former PGA Tour professional Matt McQuillan has died at the age of 45. According to an online obituary, McQuillan passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 5, at Kingston General Hospital in Ontario, Canada, surrounded by his family.
A Kingston, Ontario native, McQuillan turned professional in 2003 and earned his PGA Tour card via Q-School in 2010. His career highlight occurred in 2011 when he tied for third place at the John Deere Classic. Before his professional career, he played college golf at Oklahoma State and the University of Georgia.
Following his time on the Tour, McQuillan remained active in the sport by teaching golf in his hometown, helping to develop Canadian golfers. Golf Canada issued a statement mourning his passing, noting his impact on the community.
