Matt Painter signs contract extension with Purdue

Purdue men’s basketball head coach Matt Painter has agreed to a contract extension that keeps him with the Boilermakers through the 2030-31 season. The amended agreement, which is pending approval by the Purdue University Board of Trustees, includes increased annual compensation along with enhanced retention and performance bonuses.

Painter, an alumnus entering his 22nd season, holds a 501-224 record and is the second-winningest coach in program history behind Gene Keady. Under his leadership, the program has achieved 11 consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances and reached the Final Four in 2024. Athletic Director Tommy McClelland noted the program's sustained excellence and the 106-game sellout streak at Mackey Arena.
