Matt Quinn to resign as U.S. Secret Service Deputy Director

Matt Quinn, the Deputy Director of the U.S. Secret Service, has announced his resignation. His final day in the role will be November 7. Quinn stated on social media that his decision was driven by a desire to spend more time with his family.

A veteran of the agency with over 20 years of service, Quinn had previously retired before returning to the Secret Service to serve as Deputy Director. He noted that he has been working with Director Shon Curran for several months to coordinate a transition of authority. Quinn emphasized the importance of maintaining the agency’s tradition of promoting leadership from within rather than seeking outside candidates.

His departure comes amid a period of personnel changes within the Trump administration and a reported rise in security threats. Secret Service officials noted that investigations into threats against protected individuals, including President Donald Trump, have increased by approximately 40 percent compared to the same period last year, surpassing 10,000 investigations.
