Matt Reeves' Batman Sequel Set Photo Fuels Court of Owls Villain Rumors

Production designer Luke Hull posted an Instagram image of a steel labyrinth built for The Batman: Part II. The design, lacking caption, strongly evokes the Court of Owls, a secret society from the 2011 comic arc that has become iconic in Batman lore.

The visual joins earlier production reports of owl‑mask costumes, a junkyard set and a ballroom, and follows the casting of Sebastian Stan and Scarlett Johansson in undisclosed roles. Director Matt Reeves has confirmed the upcoming antagonist is a character never before seen in a live‑action Batman film and that the story will explore Bruce Wayne’s past, but he has not identified the villain. The labyrinth image has therefore intensified fan speculation that the Court of Owls will serve as the primary foe in the sequel scheduled for release in February 2028.
