The Batman: Part II production begins with ambitious new direction

Production is underway for ‘The Batman: Part II’, directed by Matt Reeves and starring Robert Pattinson. Filming has taken place at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, as well as in London, Glasgow, and Liverpool.

Robert Pattinson has described the sequel as an ambitious ‘real left turn’ from the first film, suggesting a reinvention of the character rather than a traditional continuation. While maintaining the noir atmosphere, the story is expected to take a different narrative direction. The script is noted for being exceptionally dense and complex.

The film features a returning cast including Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth, and Colin Farrell as The Penguin. New cast members include Scarlett Johansson and Sebastian Stan. Director Matt Reeves has also confirmed he will continue using a ‘film out’ process to achieve an organic, analog quality through digital precision.

‘The Batman: Part II’ is scheduled for theatrical release on February 18, 2028.
