Matt Riddle criticizes WWE creative process

Former WWE United States Champion Matt Riddle has criticized the creative process during his tenure with the promotion. In a recent interview with The Takedown on SI, Riddle claimed that his character suggestions were frequently dismissed by staff as “dumb,” only for similar concepts to appear in his televised segments or promos a few weeks later.

Riddle, who was released by WWE in 2023 after competing in both NXT and the main roster, contrasted his previous experience with his current role in Major League Wrestling (MLW). He stated that while MLW maintains a clear creative direction, it provides him with significantly more freedom to contribute to his own character development and decision-making processes.
