Matt Roy suffers lower-body injury during Capitals game
Washington Capitals defenseman and alternate captain Matt Roy sustained a lower-body injury during a game against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday night. Roy exited the game during the second period, playing 14:22 of ice time before failing to return to the bench for the third period.
Head coach Spencer Carbery stated that the team would evaluate the injury once the players return to Washington. No specific moment of injury was identified during the contest. The Capitals lost the game 3-1.
Roy, a veteran defenseman, had played significant minutes in the team’s season opener against the Carolina Hurricanes. The Capitals are scheduled to practice early in the week before hosting the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday.
