Matt Wilkinson debuts in MLB season with San Francisco Giants

Matt Wilkinson, a pitcher nicknamed ‘Tugboat,’ is currently navigating his debut Major League Baseball season with the San Francisco Giants. Originally from Ladner, British Columbia, Wilkinson was drafted in the 10th round of the 2023 MLB Draft by the Cleveland Guardians before being traded to San Francisco in May.

Wilkinson made his MLB debut on August 19 against the Guardians. He previously gained recognition as a standout pitcher for a White Rock, B.C., youth team during the 2015 Little League World Series, where he recorded 16 strikeouts in a single game. His career path included playing for Foothills Composite High School in Alberta and Central Arizona College.
