Matteo Bovenzi Wins Junior World Modern Pentathlon Championship

Italian modern pentathlete Matteo Bovenzi, a 21‑year‑old member of the Aeronautica Militare, captured the Junior World Championship in Kaunas, Lithuania. Bovenzi amassed 1,608 points, beginning with a 230‑point fencing score, posting a 23.40‑second hurdle time, leading the swim with 52.13 seconds, and finishing first in the laser‑run. He finished ahead of Ukraine’s Danylo Sych (1,596 points, silver) and Egypt’s Mohamed Hassan (1,589 points, bronze). After the race Bovenzi said, “I can’t believe it – I have dreamed of this moment for years. It’s fantastic, thank you to my coaches and the Aeronautica Militare staff.” Other Italian juniors placed 17th (Alessandro Boero) and 11th in the women’s final (Annachiara Allara).
