Matteo Daniele Gualtieri to present new book in La Spezia

Writer Matteo Daniele Gualtieri will present his book, "L’Italia s’è persa" (PAV edizioni, 2025), at the Centro studi Memoria in rete (MIR) in La Spezia on March 13, 2026. The volume, which placed third in the "Il Sigillo di Dante" International Literature Prize, is a historical work set in Italy in March 1945.

The narrative explores the dark period leading up to the liberation from fascism. It follows the intersecting paths of Carlo Rigomonti, a high-ranking official of the Italian Social Republic who aids partisans and protects a Jewish family, and a partisan whose motivations are tested by a spiral of violence. The story focuses on the conflict between individual ideals and the escalating brutality of the war.
