Matteo Renzi claims center-left needs Italia Viva to win 2027 elections

Matteo Renzi, leader of Italia Viva, has asserted that the center-left cannot win the 2027 elections without his party. He argued that the current 'Campo Largo'—comprising the Democratic Party (Pd), Avs, and the Five Star Movement (M5S)—is insufficient because these groups combined do not reach 40% of the vote.

Renzi stated that for a victory to be possible, the coalition must expand into a broader center-left alliance that includes reformist and centrist forces. He positioned Italia Viva as a necessary component to make the coalition attractive to voters and to counter the influence of Forza Italia.
