Matteo Salvini advocates for increased military presence in Italian cities
Matteo Salvini has stated that increasing the presence of military personnel on the streets through the ‘strade sicure’ initiative has yielded positive results, noting a reduction in issues over the recent weekend compared to previous weeks.
Speaking at the extraordinary congress of the Lega party, where he was reconfirmed as federal secretary with 465 votes, Salvini argued for further expansion of the program. He noted that there are over 90,000 military personnel currently in barracks, some of whom are stationed abroad, who could provide a greater contribution to urban security.
