Mattermost Japan launches secure AI collaboration platform on sovereign cloud

Mattermost Japan has announced an initiative to provide its secure collaboration platform, Mattermost Sovereign Mission Environment (SME), on the Oracle Alloy infrastructure operated by Nomura Research Institute (NRI) within domestic data centers.

Supported by Oracle Japan, the service aims to meet strict data sovereignty, economic security, and regulatory requirements for sectors including defense, finance, public services, manufacturing, and critical infrastructure. By utilizing NRI-controlled cloud environments, organizations can integrate generative AI and agentic AI functions while mitigating risks related to extraterritorial application of foreign laws and dependence on external public clouds.

The platform is designed to enhance resilience against ransomware and supply chain attacks by supporting air-gapped and Denied, Disrupted, Intermittent, or Limited (DDIL) communication environments. NRI will offer the service as a managed solution, potentially integrating it with its existing cloud solutions like 'atlax' to provide comprehensive operational and security support.
