Matthew Brennan secures third Vuelta a España stage victory

British cyclist Matthew Brennan has secured his third stage victory of the 2026 Vuelta a España. The 21-year-old, riding for Team Visma | Lease a Bike, won the eleventh stage in Lorca following a successful sprint.

Brennan’s performance has drawn comparisons to teammate Wout van Aert due to his versatility. While his earlier wins showcased finishing speed, his role in Stage 13 in Loja demonstrated tactical depth; he joined an early breakaway and worked to neutralize attacks from riders like Leo Bisiaux and Simon Dalby to support Van Aert’s eventual stage win.

In the eleventh stage, Van Aert assisted Brennan by leading the sprint train, positioning him for the win. Other notable results included Bryan Coquard in second and Jordi Meeus in third. In the general classification, Enric Mas maintains the lead ahead of the upcoming climb to Calar Alto.
