Matthew Hayden backs Dinesh Karthik for CSK head coach role

Former Australian batter Matthew Hayden has recommended Dinesh Karthik as the head coach for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK). Hayden suggests that the franchise would benefit from a coach with a ‘local touch’ or ‘Chennai touch’ rather than following the trend of hiring international candidates.

The recommendation follows the departure of Stephen Fleming, who led the team to five IPL titles and ten finals. Fleming has since transitioned to the role of England Test head coach. While CSK has reportedly been considering overseas candidates such as Albie Morkel, Mike Hussey, Eoin Morgan, and Brendon McCullum, Hayden argues that Karthik is ready for the responsibility due to his cultural connection to the region.
