Matthew Hayden criticizes Australian cricket complacency
Former Australian opening batsman Matthew Hayden has attributed the national team's recent Test series defeat in South Africa to widespread complacency. Following a 2-1 series loss in Cape Town, Australia has surrendered its world number one Test ranking.
Speaking on SEN Radio, Hayden suggested that complacency exists at all levels, including the administration, coaching staff, and players. He noted that while the team has been successful, including winning the 2023 World Test Championship, the current decline serves as a significant warning for the cricket establishment.
The Australian team faces a demanding upcoming schedule, including a four-Test series against New Zealand in December and a five-match Border-Gavaskar Trophy series in India.
