Matthew Hudson-Smith wins European 400m title in Birmingham

Matthew Hudson-Smith secured his third European 400m individual title in Birmingham, winning the race with a time of 44.17 seconds. This victory marks a personal progression for the British sprinter, who has won gold in Berlin (2018), Munich (2022), and now Birmingham (2026).

France's Muhammad Abdallah Kounta took the silver medal with a time of 44.40 seconds, following a strong semifinal performance where he set a personal record of 44.38 seconds. The podium was completed by Jonas Phijffers of the Netherlands, who finished in 44.41 seconds, just one hundredth of a second behind Kounta.
