Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson star in new series Brothers
Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson have released a new eight-episode comedy series titled ‘Brothers’ on Apple TV. The show is a form of autofiction where the two actors play exaggerated versions of themselves.
The premise of the series is inspired by a real-life rumor involving the actors' families. During a vacation in Greece, a comment suggested that the two longtime friends might actually be biological brothers due to a past connection between their parents. In the show, this revelation triggers a comedic investigation by Harrelson’s character, while McConaughey’s character is preoccupied with a political campaign for Governor of Texas.
Harrelson noted that the fast-paced, 30-minute comedic format required a different approach than their previous work together, such as ‘True Detective’. The series features their real-life families playing various relatives, emphasizing the absurd and ‘over-the-top’ nature of the production.
