Matthew McConaughey discusses career residuals and advice for his son
In recent interviews, including an appearance on the ‘Happy Sad Confused’ podcast, actor Matthew McConaughey shared several insights regarding his career and personal life.
McConaughey revealed that the 2003 romantic comedy ‘How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days’ remains his most lucrative film in terms of residual income, or ‘mailbox money.’ He noted that the film continues to be a major earner through streaming and distribution, particularly around Valentine’s Day.
Reflecting on his past, the actor recounted a situation at the U.S.-Mexico border where mentioning his role in the 2001 film ‘The Wedding Planner’ alongside Jennifer Lopez helped resolve a tense encounter with police officers.
Regarding his family, McConaughey discussed his approach to parenting his teenage children, including his son Levi. He emphasized the importance of embracing failure and rejection in the entertainment industry, advising his son to ‘fail more’ and not fear making mistakes during the pursuit of a career in Hollywood.
