Actor Matthew McConaughey and his wife Camila Alves attended the weekly general audience of Pope Leon XIV at St. Peter's Basilica on 5 August, where they were photographed with the pontiff. The meeting was highlighted by the media because McConaughey has spoken publicly about his Christian faith and recently published a book of reflections.

The couple’s visit coincided with the production of Netflix’s new film "Positano", shot in various Italian locations including Positano, Lake Iseo and Rome. The movie, directed by Oscar‑winning documentary filmmaker Daniel Roher, stars McConaughey alongside Zoe Saldana and other actors. The Vatican appearance was a brief pause in the actor’s busy filming schedule in Italy.
