Matthew McConaughey reflects on reading negative reviews in the desert
Actor Matthew McConaughey revealed during the ‘Build or Break’ podcast that he once spent two days reading negative reviews of his work while on a week-long trip to the desert.
McConaughey, who won an Oscar for ‘Dallas Buyers Club’, noted that while some reviews felt personally motivated by the authors, others prompted him to reflect on his performances. He mentioned that certain critics were actually fans who felt his acting did not meet their expectations, leading him to question where he had failed in his execution.
When asked how he manages to not let criticism affect him, the Texas-born actor admitted that such comments do hit him personally. He joked that he tries to tell himself that ‘those who wrote the good reviews were the smart ones.’
