Matthew McConaughey reveals why he quit smoking cannabis

Actor Matthew McConaughey has revealed that he decided to quit smoking cannabis following an overwhelming experience on his birthday. In his new poetry collection, ‘Poems & Prayers’, and in an interview with Rolling Stone, the Oscar winner described how a potent strain of marijuana led to a period of paralysis and intense analysis rather than pleasure.

McConaughey recounted an incident where he sat in his car listening to Janet Jackson’s 1993 hit ‘That’s the Way Love Goes’ 24 times in a row. By the time he emerged from the vehicle to join his guests, his birthday celebration had already ended and everyone had left. He noted that the changing potency of cannabis contributed to this shift, moving from social use to a more ‘paralyzing’ effect that caused him to lose track of time and surroundings.
