Matthew Opoku Prempeh conducts food donations and addresses nuclear energy summit

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the former Ghanaian Minister for Education and Energy, has engaged in both humanitarian and policy-focused activities. In Kumasi, he distributed essential food supplies, including rice, maize, and cooking oil, to three facilities: the Kumasi Children’s Home, the Edwenase Rehabilitation Centre, and the Cheshire Rehabilitation Home.

Separately, speaking at the 2026 US-Africa Nuclear Energy Summit in Accra, Dr. Prempeh addressed the future of nuclear power on the continent. He emphasized that successful nuclear programs depend on human capital and long-term institutional stability rather than just reactor construction. He advocated for a foundational approach to training a specialized workforce, stating that “nuclear begins in the classroom” to ensure Africa can meet its low-carbon energy ambitions using its uranium resources.
