Matthew Perry documentary to premiere on Netflix

Netflix will release a three-part documentary titled ‘The One About Matthew Perry’ on October 27, marking the third anniversary of the actor's death. The series aims to portray Perry beyond his iconic role as Chandler Bing in ‘Friends,’ exploring the intersection of his professional success and his personal struggles with addiction.

While the documentary features testimonies from close friends and recovery companions, the original ‘Friends’ cast—including Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer—will not participate. Insiders suggest the actors declined to appear because the loss remains “too raw” and they prefer to honor his memory on their own terms.

Matthew’s sister, Mia Perry Bowick, will appear in the special to share private memories and insights into his life. The documentary also touches upon his efforts toward sobriety and the legacy of the Matthew Perry Foundation, which supports individuals in early stages of addiction recovery.
