Netflix releases Matthew Perry docuseries

Netflix has released a three-part docuseries titled ‘The One About Matthew Perry’, directed by Emmy winner Mary Robertson. The series, which premiered on October 27, 2026, arrives shortly before the third anniversary of the actor’s death.

The documentary explores Perry’s life and career, from his early acting days to his global fame as Chandler Bing on ‘Friends’. It delves into his lifelong struggle with substance use disorder, including his experiences with addiction, rehabilitation attempts, and the medical crises he faced, such as a near-fatal colon rupture in 2018.

Central to the production are interviews with Perry’s sister, Mia Perry Bowick, and close friends. While the series utilizes private family archives, including Super 8 footage and personal photographs, the five main stars of ‘Friends’—Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, and David Schwimmer—declined to participate in new interviews for the project.
