Matthew Renshaw credits technical changes for Test cricket resurgence

Matthew Renshaw has experienced a significant resurgence in Test cricket following a period of intensive technical and physical preparation. After previously sliding down the international pecking order, the 30-year-old batsman recently scored 190 and 82 during Australia’s 214-run Test victory over South Africa.

Queensland Bulls mentor Wade Townsend credited Renshaw’s transformation to a ‘winter revolution’ spent improving fitness and honing technical skills in the Northern Territory. Townsend noted that these changes, combined with a shift in mindset following becoming a father, helped Renshaw transition from a defensive specialist into a more capable attacking player.
