Matthew Rhys wins Emmy for ‘The Beast in Me’ as Netflix announces Lizzie Borden series

At the 2026 Emmy Awards, Matthew Rhys won the award for Best Actor in a Limited Series for his performance in the Netflix suspense miniseries ‘The Beast in Me’ (O Monstro em Mim). The series, showrun by Howard Gordon, follows an author named Aggie Wiggs as she investigates a real estate tycoon suspected of involvement in her husband's disappearance.

Separately, Netflix is preparing the fourth installment of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s ‘Monster’ anthology series, titled ‘Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story’, set to premiere on September 17, 2026. The production focuses on the historical case of Lizzie Borden, who was accused of murdering her father and stepmother with an axe in Fall River, Massachusetts, in 1892. The new series explores themes of female repression and revenge, featuring an ensemble cast including Ella Beatty, Vicky Krieps, and Charlie Hunnam.
