Matthew Rhys wins two Emmy Awards for lead acting
Matthew Rhys has become the first actor to win two lead acting Emmys at a single ceremony. On Monday night, he won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for his role as Mayor Tom Loftis in the Apple TV+ series ‘Widow’s Bay’.
Earlier in the same evening, Rhys also won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series or Movie for his performance in the Netflix production ‘The Beast in Me’. This achievement makes him the first male actor to win an Emmy in all three lead acting categories, having previously won Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series in 2018 for ‘The Americans’.
‘Widow’s Bay’ has received significant attention, earning 19 nominations in its first season and securing a second season.
