Matthias Brandt discusses career beginnings and parents
Actor Matthias Brandt, 65, shared details about his journey into acting during an appearance on the talk show “3nach9”. He revealed that as a shy teenager, he sought guidance on how to become an actor by contacting the employment office (Arbeitsamt), which subsequently sent him an informative brochure.
Brandt, the youngest son of former German Chancellor Willy Brandt and Rut Brandt, noted that while his parents were concerned about the financial stability of a career in the “often breadless art” of acting, they remained supportive of his choices. He described his parents as “very free and very cool,” noting that he and his siblings were granted significant personal freedom during his upbringing.
